We’re all aware that the number one culprit of lung diseases is smoking. However, it’s a habit that’s not so easy to break. Once you’re addicted to it, it’s almost impossible to stop, which is why some people just turn to the “healthier” alternative – the electronic cigarettes.
Earlier this year, a study has found that they’re 95 percent less harmful than the regular, because they technically don’t contain tobacco. But that doesn’t mean you’re safe with them – it’s not just tobacco that endangers human health.
This recent study from Harvard shows that the chemical flavouring in e-cigarettes may increase your risk of respiratory diseases. Read more in this report by Amy Roeder:
Chemical flavorings found in e-cigarettes linked to lung disease
Diacetyl, a flavoring chemical linked to cases of severe respiratory disease, was found in more than 75 percent of flavored electronic cigarettes and refill liquids tested by researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Read more…
Chemical flavouring in general is bad for the health, whether it’s in your food, drink, or cigarette. So if you think you’re safe from lung disease, you’re wrong. Thousands of people are affected by it, so you may want to stay away from any kind of smoke as much as possible. Secondhand smoke can affect you as well, probably even worst.
Again, there is no such thing as a healthier smoke. E-cigarettes can potentially help you stop your tobacco addiction, but if you have never smoked, don’t even think about it.
