For some people, waking up in the morning is the equivalent to climbing a peak without preparation. And researchers at the University of Leicester say this may be more than just a matter of personal preferences, like how some are morning people and some are night owls; your genes may be the reason why you may find it extra hard to get off your bed and out into the real world on some (or, well, most) mornings. But if your alarm clock uses smell of coffee to wake you up – regardless of whether you are a morning or night person – maybe that will not be such a bad start to the day, right?
This Genius Alarm Clock Wakes You Up With The Smell Of Coffee
Getting out of bed can be tough. Your cozy comforters beg you to stay while your blaring alarm clock begs to be snoozed.
Well, establishing a morning routine can be very helpful — hydration, meditation, goal-setting, healthy eating, and not checking your phone are key — but there’s something else that might take the edge off waking up forever: an aromatic alarm clock. Read More…
And it should make a lot of sense. When an alarm clock uses smell of coffee to wake us up, we will not only be jarred out of sleep – we will also remember all the lovely mornings we have had sipping our cups. Scientists say that the scent of smell is one of the most nostalgic elements in the world, kickstarting a trip to memory lane with just one whiff. You will not just feel awake, you will feel motivated – ready to take on what the world will throw at you.
In A Natural History of the Senses, Diane Ackerman also says that most of what we think we taste, we actually smell. So having an electronic device that is designed to help us wake up earlier while reminding us of what coffee tastes like is like a double-whammy of a picker-upper. And we think the world is ready for that – even those people who do not normally take coffee because of hyperacidity. We do not exactly know how the alarm clock’s designer intends to weave the scents with the product but we are all for it. Sign us up!
