Fats, no matter how much you avoid them, are important in your diet. But it’s not just “fats” in general – there is such thing as healthy unsaturated ones, which are the fats you don’t need to fear.
The healthy fats provide your body the energy it needs. They work best when doing more intense workouts, so they are ideal for athletes. They also fasten and enhance muscle recovery.
Aside from boosting athletic performance, they help reduce inflammation, regulate cholesterol levels, keep skin young-looking, even reduce your risk of heart disease.

In conclusion, your body needs fats, but that doesn’t permit you to snack on bacon, french fries or other greasy fast food.
What are the fats that you don’t need to fear? The healthier, plant-based choices like flaxseed, beans, avocados, nuts and more. Fatty fishes like salmon, mackerel and trout are good sources, too. However, most fishes are already contaminated nowadays, so be careful.
The same goes with carbohydrates. Make sure that you get them from the healthier food groups.
Avoid refined carbs and sugars as much as possible, as well as high-fat, processed foods as they contain the most chemicals. Always go for real and whole foods, or those with fewer ingredients. Good or bad, the best thing to do is to consume them in moderation.
